A.L.I. Technologies Inc., (CEO: Daisuke Katano) and MS&AD Insurance Group’s subsidiary, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. Ltd.(CEO: Shinichiro Funabiki), have announced that they will begin offering dedicated liability insurance for domestic purchasers of the XTURISMO Limited Edition* hoverbike.
A.L.I. Technologies has been working to promote the widespread use of air mobility, which is attracting a great deal of attention as a new means of transportation. The XTurismo Limited Edition, a practical use hoverbike that will be delivered both domestically and internationally in 2022, will come with specialized liability insurance at no extra cost for domestic users.
*The XTURISMO is a hoverbike that gives users an unprecedented freedom and offers new sensations of travelling at high speeds through the air.It is expected to have applications in various industries and use cases, such as transportation in areas with inadequate infrastructure.
1.Features of the Hoverbike Dedicated Liability Insurance
A）Coverage for bodily and property insurance is limited to operation of the hoverbike. A.L.I. will pay the premiums and provide the coverage free of charge to individual users in Japan.
B）A settlement negotiation service will be provided in case of a compensation event.
2.Background
The market for air mobility is attracting attention as a new means of transportation, and further development is expected in the future. Much like with conventional road-based vehicles, insurance is necessary to improve the peace of mind of buyers and users of the hoverbike in the event of accidents that might occur during operation, and to promote the normalization and spread of air mobility technologies in our society. In this pursuit, A.L.I. Technologies and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group have decided to provide a dedicated liability insurance policy for the launch of hoverbikes.
3.Future Development
A.L.I.Technologies and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance will continue to explore the possibility of developing products and services that address the risks surrounding air mobility, such as insurance for injuries caused by operator error, etc., and the establishment of a compensation system in the event of breakdown or damage to hoverbikes, in order to encourage the normalization and spread of air mobility.
