A.L.I. Technologies Inc. and NTT Docomo Inc. to Collaborate in Drone Flight Operation Business

A.L.I. Technologies (Main office: Tokyo, Minato-ku; CEO: Daisuke Katano; hereinafter A.L.I.), with NTT Docomo Inc. (Main office: Tokyo, Chiyoda-ku; CEO: Motoyuki Ii; hereinafter NTT Docomo), have announced a collaboration of drone flight operations to promote the social implementation of drones.

A.L.I. has been focusing on the development of solutions and platforms for the social implementation of drones, in recognition of the especially dire need in industrial applications.

In addition to the in-house development of drone aircraft and control systems, A.L.I. also provides a variety of drone solutions such as inspection, surveying, agricultural sensing, and aerial photography. They have built up a track record of more than 1,000 flights per year through efficient flight operations using their nationwide network of pilots, who work within a rank system and regularly undertake training in order to improve their operational skills, and to enable the provision of the most suitable pilot for each client request.

NTT Docomo provides services for companies that use drones through docomo sky®, a drone platform that enables centralized management in the cloud, and services that utilize Skydio‘s drones.
docomo sky is a platform that can perform everything from flight planning to data management and data analysis in one integrated process. Aerial photography data acquired by drones can be centrally managed on the web, along with location information and altitude information at the time of shooting. In addition, the viewer can be used to effortlessly confirm the acquired data and create analysis reports.

By using docomo sky, it will be possible to utilize drones in a wide range of fields, including the inspection of high-rise buildings including steel towers, the inspection of bridges to improve work efficiency and standardize inspection quality, and disaster countermeasures to check the damage status safely and quickly from remote locations.

The two companies have signed a flight consignment agreement and will combine their know-how, technology and resources to conduct operational services. This will enable the safe use and improved reliability of drones, as well as the nationwide expansion of flight operations. The two companies will work together to create a catalyst for the social implementation of drones in Japan.

This collaboration will result in a safe and efficient drone operation scheme that can be offered nationwide, and will be promoted so that the social implementation of drones will help solve social issues such as the reduction of hazardous work conditions, aging infrastructure, disaster prevention, and the decrease in the working population due to an aging society.
