A.L.I. to hold Public Demonstration with SBS Holdings in Anticipation of Full-Scale Logistics Flights in 2021

A.L.I. Technologies Inc. (Main office: Tokyo, Minato-ku; CEO Daisuke Katano; hereinafter A.L.I.) has announced a public demonstration for SBS Holdings (Main office: Tokyo, Sumida-ku; CEO: Masahiko Kamata; hereinafter SBSHD), who have been investigating the use of drones for logistical applications. The demonstration is to be held at the branch of their subsidiary, SBS Logicom Co., Ltd, located in Sachiura, Yokohama.

Demonstration Apparatus

A.L.I. Standard drone, Number One, carrying a sample package. To ensure quality control, the manufacturing will be consigned to partner companies that specialize in drone technologies.

【Purpose of the Demonstration】
The purpose of this demonstration is to prove that Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (including drones) can be utilized effectively in the field of logistics without interference from radio waves, and to demonstrate the safety of hardware and software systems*1 within our machines.

【Demonstration Outline】
A 2kg dummy load will be automatically delivered to a target area within the company grounds by A.L.I.’s standard drone, A.L.I. Number One, in an environment of complex radio frequencies.
Autonomous flight at the touch of a button.

In cooperation with SBS LogiCom’s iGOQ team*2, 5 round trips of 100m in length were successfully completed despite being conducted in an environment of strong ocean wind and complex combination of radio wave frequencies. Until now, such tests have been conducted in mountainous and forested areas, so this test has demonstrated the safety and utility of the drone in more urban environments with back-ground EMF potential interference.
The companies will conduct further research and development with the goal to provide last-mile delivery service at reasonable and competitive rates, contributing to the social implementation of drones.
