A.L.I. Technologies Inc. (Main office: Tokyo, Minato-ku; CEO: Daisuke Katano; hereinafter A.L.I.) and Aerodyne Japan (Main office: Tokyo, Shibuya-ku; Representative: Akira Itou; hereinafter Aerodyne) have formed an alliance to link their networks of drone operators and UAS (Drone Systems) in order to develop a full-scale drone service for the entire world. This is an initiative to promote high quality services domestically and internationally by Aerodyne, which has an extensive track record of drone inspections in 35 countries worldwide, and A.L.I., the largest drone solutions provider in Japan.

❏ A.L.I.’s Vision and Challenges
In anticipation for future drone market expansion, A.L.I. has been working to develop cloud-based drone control systems for service operations since its establishment.
As predicted, the need for drone solutions in Japan has expanded dramatically. However, there is a shortage of skilled drone operators, and the rise of airframe manufacturers and systems developers from overseas has led to issues relating to rules and quality assurance.
In response to these issues, A.L.I. conducts training that is tailored to the needs of each industry to produce exemplary drone pilots, and has also independently developed a cloud-based system, C.O.S.M.O.S, that enables centralized management of drone equipment and system information.
In addition to these initiatives, the company aims to provide even higher quality services and accelerate the social implementation of drones in society, both domestically and internationally, through the collaboration with the global drone service provider, Aerodyne.

❏ Aerodyne’s Vision and Challenges
Aerodyne has performed more than 300,000 drone asset inspections in 35 countries, has been ranked No. 1 in Asia in the UAV Services category of the Asia-Pacific Best Practices Awards 2019*1, and is a global leader in drone services.
Currently, many of the services that require drone inspections that are offered by the Aerodyne Group are seen as an alternative method of inspection for existing infrastructure assets. As a result, the cost of a drone operator is generally expected to be comparable or less expensive than the cost of existing inspections.
Since its entry into Japan in 2018, Aerodyne has been highly regarded for their achievements overseas and has received many inquiries within Japan as a result. However, against the backdrop of a national shortage of available pilots with industry-specific skills, the company is facing issues of difficulty coordinating the limited number of pilots in their service. Through this initiative, Aerodyne and A.L.I. aim to improve the quality of operations and services to their clients by integrating the expertise of both companies, enabling the provision of uniform services both domestically and internationally.

The company aims to not only provide widely available, general-purpose drones, but also the implementation of drone operations that can solve various issues in the public and private sectors with in-house developed aircraft and related systems all made in Japan.
In addition, A.L.I. has been actively working to establish rules for drones that meet international standards through the promotion of FAI*2 certified international drone races, and determining rules for training within various industries; by working with Aerodyne, which has extensive knowledge of global drone operations, the company will work to create the de facto standard for drone services in Japan.
