A.L.I. Participates in Field Test of Unmanned Ship

A.L.I. Technologies(Main office: Tokyo, Minato-ku; CEO: Daisuke Katano; hereinafter A.L.I.)with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Main office Tokyo, Minato-ku; CEO: Junichiro Ikeda; hereinafter MOL), a representative member of the consortium, have announced their participation in the project MEGURI2040 (hereinafter “the project”), which aims to promote the use of unmanned ships.
This project is a part of the Joint Program for Technological Development of Unmanned Vessel Trials*1, a project in which five consortia will conduct trials of unmanned vessels by fiscal 2021. Each consortium will work toward technological innovation in the maritime industry and revolutionizing logistics and social infrastructure through the widespread use of unmanned vessels.

A.L.I. will be developing technology to support the mooring of ships, such as the use of drones to drop heaving lines from the wharf. A.L.I. is committed to playing a role in this project by providing all the drone development technology and operational management expertise it has cultivated to date. A.L.I. also hope to make a contribution to the eradication of maritime accidents caused by human error, which is an urgent issue in the coastal shipping industry, and to the reduction of labor burdens and the resolution of problems in response to the increasing shortage of seafarers and the increasing age of seafarers.
