A.L.I. Collaborates with AMD to Develop Cloud 3D Rendering Service with Blockchain-Based Payment System

Tokyo, 01.07.2019 – A.L.I. Technologies Inc. (A.L.I.) (Tokyo, Japan) today announced an agreement with AMD to develop a cloud 3D rendering service with a blockchain-based payment system. The industry’s blockchain-based hash power lending service, “3D Rendering Power Pool” will enable efficient, cost-effective cloud-based 3D rendering*¹ applications utilizing A. L. I.’s edge computing system and the AMD Radeon™ ProRender physically-based rendering engine.

3D Rendering Power Pool enables users to perform real-time 3D rendering in the cloud by utilizing A.L.I.’s edge computing systems equipped with AMD Radeon™ RX Vega 56 and 64 graphics cards. A. L. I.’s distributed computing system will manage the required GPU tasks for the power pool in real time, providing an authentication and charging system based on blockchain technology.

Demand for video production with 3D rendering is growing globally*², with the use of 3D rendering technology in video production expected to increase to 26.7 billion USD (JPY 3 trillion approx.) in 2020 from 13.1 billion USD (JPY 1.4 trillion approx.) in 2017. 3D Rendering Power Pool dramatically reduces rendering processing time and the initial technology investment by enabling the utilization of cloud computing resources when required.

At the same time, as the level of computing power required for 3D rendering is rising we anticipate that the cost of the necessary computing equipment will also rise. With the 3D Rendering Power Pool, vendors can develop Software as a Service (SaaS) business models that allow users to utilize the computing power and capabilities necessary for 3D rendering as much as needed, when needed and according to usage records.
